You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Went to SFAHS 4-12-13; Returned week of 5/20/13 Update 7-23-14 Duncan is back in the rescue. He is pretty thin and his coat was in tough shape but its starting to shine up again. He also had a few bald spots that are filling in nicely so we feel its going to be very important for Duncan to be on a high quality dog food so he can up his weight and continue to improve his fur. Duncan LOVES people, he wants to be with them all the time. That being said he may not be the best for small kids because he is a leaner, he loves to actually touch his people all the time so he will lean against you and rub on you so he would surely knock over small kids, not because he's mean just because he has to have contact all the time. He does not know how to walk a leash at all, he pulls so hard so his foster mom is going to work on teaching him to walk better on the leash. He is high energy but with the right amount of exercise he will calm down and lay around the house. Without his exercise he gets wound pretty tight so he will need someone to exercise him everyday so he can release some of that energy. Duncan is a sweet dog though, he likes kisses and sits for treats. He gets along just fine with all the dogs in foster care big and small. He does not like cats. He will chase any critter that runs across him. He probably wouldn't do good at the same home with goats, ducks, chickens etc... he likes to chase that kind of stuff and when he starts the chase he looses his ability to listen. Duncan would love to have a running partner. He loves to be around guns and water. I shot into the water one day and he jumped into the water right where the bullet went in. Very loving. Loves to sit on your foot and wait to be petted. Doesn't jump on a person. Loves to play with other dogs but respects them if they don't want to play. Really wants to please people. *** URGENT *** FOSTER HOMES NEEDED We are in URGENT need of foster homes for the dogs and cats we rescue from the city of Mitchell's pound. We have seen an increase in the number of animals not being claimed by their owners. Fostering is a necessary, but temporary situation for these animals. We have a good placement record, but we have more dogs and cats that need foster homes than we have homes for them. The animals in the shelter are strays so we don't have a lot of information (age, good with kids, good with other animals, etc.) about them before we take them into foster care. A lot is learned in the first few hours they are in the foster's home. What we do know is they will have their shots and are not vicious. They might not get along with other dogs or cats, so they will need proper introductions. Worst case scenario, if an animal doesn't work out in your home we will transfer it to another foster home. All necessary vetting is provided for our foster animals. We can also provide toys, bedding and other supplies, and help with food if needed. That means there is no cost to you!
